We're Rewarding You for Finishing. (Finally.)
Most reading apps track when you open a book.
We don't care about that. We care about when you finish one.
Today we launched The O Bookmark Collection, the first reader loyalty program in romance that rewards you for completing stories. Not opening them or adding them to your TBR, but actually finishing them.
Every completed story earns you points. Hit a milestone, and we mail you a 3D-printed bookmark, with a handwritten note from me - because we're a platform that cares about the people on it, and try to show that in a million different ways.
Why we built this
I've been watching how readers actually behave on Theo Reads, and the data is clear: the most meaningful moment in reading isn't the scroll or the browse or even the purchase. It's the finish.
That's also when our two-question feedback prompt appears. (Would you recommend this? How did it make you feel?) The whole emotion map we're building, the one that will eventually let you find your next read by feeling rather than just trope, depends on readers reaching the end. Completion isn't a vanity metric, but the engine.
So we built a program that makes finishing feel like the win it is.
The bookmarks
Five tiers. Five milestones based on Fibonacci numbers, because we are, at our core, a platform about love. And love follows the golden ratio of phi, which is the mathematical constant that shows up in nautilus shells, in sunflower spirals, in the proportions of the human face. Beauty isn't random. Neither is what we feel when a story gets it right.
The final tier is called Phi-nish (I'm especially proud of this one.) The reader isn't just completing a milestone - they're arriving at the phi of love. The completion of something that started with the simple act of picking up a story.
The full progression: Lit Pussy at 5 points, Good Girl at 21, Good Vibrations at 55, a trope bundle at 89, and Phi-nish at 144.
The names are deliberate. We're a romance and erotica platform. We're not going to name our bookmarks "Book Lover" and "Super Reader" when our readers call themselves smut girlies and dark romance obsessives. So, the bookmarks match the vibe (showing it in a million different ways, remember?).
Each bookmark comes in three colors: black with gold, red with black, or pink with black. You pick the color you want.

The Streak
Alongside the collection, we're also tracking your weekly reading streak. Finish at least one story every week, and your streak keeps climbing. Hit milestones at 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 16 weeks, a year, and you earn Streak bookmarks, a different set designed for consistency.
The 8-week bookmark is the one I'm most excited about. Research on habit formation puts the median at 66 days. Eight weeks is roughly when reading on Theo Reads stops being a thing you sometimes do and starts being something you just do.

The Moments
There's also a quieter third track.
Birthday bookmarks. Reader-versary bookmarks. Seasonal limited editions: Indie Bookstore Day, Pride Month, Spooky Season, Valentine's, year-end. These rotate annually, so if you're here for five years, you'll have five different birthday bookmarks, each one dated.
I love this one most, if I'm being honest. The idea of a reader who's been with Theo Reads for a decade, holding ten birthday bookmarks, each a small artifact of a different year, is exactly what we're building towards. 💗
So, about Amazon
Amazon has dominated this industry for thirty years. Thirty years of the same basic transaction: you search, you buy, you read, you maybe leave a star rating. The genre that outsells every other category of fiction on their platform gets no loyalty program, no milestone recognition, no acknowledgment that finishing a 400-page slow burn deserves something more than a nudge to buy the sequel.
We are one small platform that's just getting started. But we know this industry, we know this reader, and we care enough to actually build the thing. The O Bookmark Collection is not a feature, but a philosophy. Romance readers deserve to be celebrated, publicly, with a physical artifact you can hold in your hands.
US-only for v1, while we get logistics right. International readers, your bookmarks are being set aside. You're not missing out, you're just waiting.
The only question is whether you'll keep reading on a platform that floods romance with AI-written titles, squeezes real authors out of their own genre, and then shadow-bans the spicy stories you actually want, or come build something different with us.
Gauntlet. Thrown.
With love, Parneet 🤍
FAQs
How do I know when I've earned a bookmark?
The moment you cross a milestone, your dashboard updates and the bookmark tile fills in. You'll also get an email from RealHumans@theoreads.com, and if it's your first one we'll prompt you for a shipping address + ask you to pick your color before the bookmark goes to print. Every bookmark comes in three colors: black with gold accents, red with black accents, and pink with black accents.
Your bookmark goes into that week's print queue and ships the following week. You'll get a second email — "your bookmark is on its way" — when it ships.
Are subscribers included in this program?
Abso-loving-lutely!
What counts as a completed story?
A story counts when you reach the end — 100% of the main story content. The moment the end-of-story prompt appears (asking if you'd recommend it and what you felt), you've completed it.
Paid stories count 2x towards points earned. Free stories count 1x.
Re-reads don't add to your count. A story you've already finished won't count a second time if you come back to it. This includes your first paid story that's on us.
How do I add or update my shipping address?
You'll be prompted via email when you earn your first bookmark. It's also editable any time from the Shipping Address field on the top right of this page — scroll up to the dashboard section.
We only use your address for shipping bookmarks. Your real name is stored privately and never shown publicly. Only your handle is ever visible.
When will my bookmark arrive?
Bookmarks ship in weekly batches, with each week's batch shipping out the following week. Most US addresses see them within 3–5 business days after that. Only residents of the Continental U.S. are eligible for this program at this time.
Every shipment includes a handwritten note from Parneet, Founder of Theo Reads.
What if I miss a week of reading?
You get two streak freezes every quarter, free and automatic. If you miss a week, a freeze absorbs it silently — your streak stays alive and we'll tell you after the fact.
If you're out of freezes and miss a week, the streak resets to zero. No guilt, no penalty — start fresh whenever you're ready. Freezes are never sold.
Can I earn bookmarks outside the US?
Only residents in the Continental U.S. are eligible for this program at this time.
Any questions? We'd love to hear from you at RealHumans@theoreads.com.
